Mindanao’s Micro Enterprises Encouraged to Claim BMBE Tax Incentive
The Department of Trade and Industry highlights the income tax exemption available to Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) nationwide, including those operating within Mindanao’s growing business communities. The exemption is granted under the BMBE Act of 2002 and aims to support micro-entrepreneurs by reducing tax burden and promoting business growth.
Requirements for Availing the BMBE Income Tax Exemption
To receive the tax incentive, eligible BMBEs must register with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office (RDO) where their business is located. The following documents must be submitted:
- BMBE Certificate of Authority
- Sworn Statement of Assets
- List of branches or affiliates, if applicable
- Audited financial statement
Once recognized as income tax-exempt, BMBEs are required to submit an Annual Information Return instead of a standard Income Tax Return (ITR).
This process ensures proper documentation while allowing micro-enterprises to maximize government-provided benefits designed to support local economic activity.
Empowering Micro Businesses Across Mindanao
DTI continues to encourage micro-entrepreneurs to take full advantage of available incentives that strengthen local livelihoods, support community-scale enterprises, and fuel Mindanao’s expanding economic landscape.
