Iligan Launches Coordinated Initiative to Clear Dangling Wires in Key City Roads
A unified task force composed of PLDT, SMART, DITO, Iligan Light and Power Inc., the City Engineer’s Office, City General Services Office, City Traffic and Parking Management Office, and the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has officially organized to address dangling wires across Iligan. This movement follows the directive of Mayor Frederick W. Siao to ensure safer and more orderly utility lines throughout the city.
Iligan Streets Targeted for First-Phase Wire Cleanup
Task Force Hapsay Linya plans to begin its operations in the first week of December, prioritizing Quezon Avenue and Roxas Avenue. The operation will include the following:
- Removal of unused wires to strengthen public safety in Iligan
- Bundling of active utility lines for cleaner and more efficient infrastructure across Iligan
- Implementation of standard installation practices to maintain long-term orderliness of wires citywide
According to Armien Alorro, Head of ICDRRMO and the Task Force, the cleanup will be implemented across the entire city. The group will also conduct regular meetings to review operations and enforce consistent standards for wire installation and maintenance.
This administrative order aims to minimize fire hazards and other risks, while significantly improving the appearance and safety of Iligan’s urban zones.
Act Now: Support a Safer, Cleaner Iligan Through Responsible Citywide Participation
Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed and support ongoing clearing activities as Iligan strengthens safety and infrastructure standards. The initiative underscores the city’s commitment to reducing risks and enhancing public spaces, aligning with the broader mission of maintaining a more organized Iligan.
Bold move for a better city begins now.
